Eight lucky local students studying the Arts have been awarded substantial financial help in the form of grants to help them in their studies by Broadway Arts Festival Trust.
These annual bursaries are given to full-time students studying Fine Art, Applied Arts, Music or the Performing Arts. The grants are awarded to help students with expenses and travel relating to their chosen field of study. Priority is given to applicants who live in the parish of Broadway or WR12 postcode, but applications are considered from neighbouring areas too.
The arts grants have been made possible thanks to the huge success of the 2018 Broadway Arts Festival, and the support of the festival Benefactors.
The grants were awarded to students on a wide range of courses including Music, Architecture, Stage & Screen Performance, Art & Design, Music, Film Production and Drama.
Brad Nash from Badsey is studying Performance Design & Practice in London. Brad comments:
“This grant will go a long way towards paying for my course materials and enable me to invest in new technology to further my music writing abilities.”
Lucy Trevorrow from Wickhamford is studying Acting at Plymouth. Lucy commented:
“I will use the grant to fund trips to watch a range of theatre, helping to expand my knowledge and expose myself to a variety of the arts it all its forms.”
Thomas Antoniw from Lenchwick is studying Film Production at Bournemouth. Thomas commented:
“It is an honour to receive this grant. This money helps with the travel to the Bournemouth Symphony Chorus, various music books, trips and lessons.”
The Broadway Arts Festival is a celebration of the village’s unique artistic heritage and aims to maintain and develop Broadway’s artistic heritage as an established venue for artistic excellence. The student arts grants play a pivotal role in this.
Broadway Arts Festival is now widely considered to be one of the top arts festivals in The Cotswolds, offering a hugely varied programme of events of the highest quality to inspire, entertain and encourage participation in the arts.
The next Broadway Arts Festival will be June 5th-14th 2020, events details are on the website.
