Malcolm Rogers – Overall Competition Judge

Malcolm was Deputy Director of the National Portrait Gallery in London, and for over twenty years, Director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He was awarded the CBE for services to the arts in Britain and America.
In retirement in Broadway, he continues his active involvement in the arts as a trustee of a number of major museums on both sides of the Atlantic, and is Chairman of Trustees of the Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.

 

Tushar Sabale Artist Competition Judge

Tushar Sabale – Overall Competition Judge

Tushar Sabale is an award winning Indian born, British artist based in London.

He mainly paints from life and plein air in oil colours and places his work between Impressionism and Realism with some Luminist touches.

Tushar is an elected member of the prestigious ‘Wapping Group of Artists’ and ‘The British Plein Air Painters’. He is also the co-founder of ‘London Plein Air Painters Group’.

In both 2021 and 2022, Tushar has participated in and been a prize winner at  The Great Broadway Paint-Off.

 

Lennox Cato Antique Expert

Lennox Cato – Best Entry from a Local Artist Prize Judge

Lennox Cato is a renowned face on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow and has recently relocated from Kent to Broadway to share his expertise with a new audience. 

Having been adopted as a baby by a family of antique dealers, it was as though his life had been mapped out for him. His passion for antiques and fine art led him to a career spanning over four decades. 

As well as his life amongst the fascinating world of antiques, Lennox has served as a town councillor, a Deputy Lieutenant of Kent, a Kent Ambassador and in recent years was asked to join the panel of the National Heritage Memorial Fund. 

Lennox runs Lennox Cato Antiques on the high street in Broadway with his wife Susan and it is true to say, in his words, they have found their happy place!

Claire Henley Artist

Claire Henley – Best Entry from a Local Artist Judge

Claire is our current Artist in Residence, and lives and works in Stratford-upon-Avon, where she has a sunny, though often messy studio!
Claire has had a varied career as a professional artist and illustrator. After studying graphic design at college in London, she worked as a designer, children’s book illustrator and writer.

In 2010 she began her move into the field of fine art by producing a series of paintings inspired by her love of the landscape and coastal areas of Britain, as well as her favourite urban scenes. 

Claire exhibits in galleries from the West Country to Scotland, as well as in her home county of Warwickshire, where she paints in her Stratford studio. Her work is currently licensed by several companies and can be found on home furnishings, gifts, wall art and paper products.

John Noott – Founders Oils/Acrylics Prize Judge

Art dealer & festival special advisor, John and his family have been successfully art dealing in Broadway for over forty years, and have a keen commercial eye for what is a good picture.
He lives in the house where, in 1885, John Singer Sargeant painted ‘Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose’, and was inspired to celebrate the long tradition of painting and the arts in Broadway by starting the Broadway Arts Festival over 10 years ago.

Georgina White (The White Gallery) – Still Life Prize Judge

Georgina’s career began in luxury in-house Public Relations, Sales & Marketing and continued with 12 years’ experience in creative recruitment. After becoming a Mum in 2016, she retrained and spent 6 years running a well-known Social Media agency, offering social media consultancy across sectors and quickly became one of the UK’s Top Pinterest Coaches, recognised as one of the Top 40 Digital Women to Watch in 2020 and a nominee for Digital Woman of the Year.

In late 2023, however she began working on her passion project, offering freelance marketing, PR, and social media skills in the art industry with the long-held dream of one day opening her own art gallery. 

In early 2025, Georgina was delighted to open ‘The White Gallery, Cotswolds’ in Chipping Campden, which offers a collection of contemporary fine art from established and emerging international artists.  This has allowed Georgina to combine her creative, digital skills and experience with her passion and love for contemporary art.

Sharon Stirling & Mark Ward – Mixed Media Prize Judges

Sharon is a Trustee for Broadway Arts Festival and a keen supporter of the arts. While Sharon and Mark’s background hails from the health industry, both share an appreciation of history and the arts, particularly in relation to Worcestershire where they have lived for over twenty years.

Sharon first became involved in Broadway’s heritage as a trustee of The Broadway Museum and Art Gallery and together with Mark, were both active contributors in helping to raise funds for the museum.  Sharon joined as a trustee of the Broadway Arts Festival in 2021 as she wanted to be able to be involved in the festival and fundraising to support the bursaries and school programme.   Mark is currently a trustee of No. 8 in Pershore.

Alison Braithwaite (Festival Director) & Amy McLelland (Management Team Member) – New Entrant Prize Judges

Two members of our management team judge the prize for Best Entry from a New Entrant.

Alison Braithwaite took over the running of the festival back in 2019. Amy McLelland manages a gallery in Leamington Spa and gives her time to the festival as a volunteer member of the management committee. Amy leads the hanging of the finalist exhibition each year at Theatrebarn.
