We are delighted to announce that The Birmingham Philharmonic will be presenting a bespoke programme of English composers for the Broadway Arts Festival at the new Cidermill Theatre in Chipping Campden on the afternoon of Sunday 13th October 2024.

Starting with a very special guest introduction to the works to be performed to provide context, we will take you on a journey that celebrates some of the very best English composers to include Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto, Holst, Walton and more.

The Orchestra’s patron is the celebrated cellist Julian Lloyd Webber – the programme will feature Elgar’s Cello Concerto and will take us on a journey of English music from Worcestershire and the West Country, finishing with Elgar’s Cockaigne Overture (In London Town).

A programme of exciting and moving music that is not only appealing to those new to classical music, but also seasoned classical music-lovers in a superb new arts venue with wonderful acoustics in the heart of beautiful Chipping Campden.

This is a not to be missed celebration of English classical music.

Guest Cellist for Elgar’s Cello Concerto: Ella Harrison

One of our key charitable aims is to encourage and inspire the next generation of artists. We are therefore delighted to be able to showcase the talent of Ella Harrison. Ella is currently at the Purcell School of Music, assisted by the government scholarship scheme, where Julian Lloyd Webber is a Patron. She is a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and has played in venues including the Wigmore hall and has participated in Birmingham concert series at the Elgar concert hall. In May 2023 Ella was awarded the cello prize at the Junior Royal Academy of Music.
