Laura Coppinger:

Laura is a 2024 Leeds Lieder Young Artist, and was recently awarded second prize in the 2024 John Kerr Competition for English Song. A versatile performer, she enjoys singing a variety of repertoire from sixteenth-century lute song (having provided recordings for use at Dean Castle, Ayrshire), to contemporary song, which she frequently performs in recital.

In 2022 she was a finalist in the Elgar/Spedding Memorial Lieder Competition and achieved 2nd place in the Coro Nuovo Sussex Young Musician competition and the Charles Wood International Song Competition (in addition to winning the Charles Wood Song Prize). Recent professional recitals include at Ludlow Assembly Rooms and the Jacqueline du Pré Music Hall (Oxford).

She particularly loves contemporary music, a passion she has had since performing in the premiere of David Bruce’s Nothing as a member of Glyndebourne Youth Opera. Since then, she has performed in multiple operatic premieres in Oxford, Manchester, and London, including with Manchester Contemporary Youth Opera and at the Tête à Tête Festival.
