This workshop will allow participants to create their own mixed media painting inspired by the work of Sara Huxley, whose work is also featured on the cover of the festival programme!

Sara will lead the workshop, showing how she creates her paintings by building up layers of texture and collage, using mainly acrylic paint, with handmade collage papers, oil pastels, oil bars and graphite stick.

The workshop will start with students creating their own collage papers by printing and mark making, then experimenting and making small scale works such as postcards or gift labels. Once the process has been explored and students are feeling more confident, we will move on to bigger pieces to create a contemporary still life.

During the workshop, we will talk about composition, colour, texture, layers and pattern. The workshop is suitable for complete beginners.

Sara will guide you through your ideas and compositional decisions and you will leave with your own mixed media masterpiece!

Sara will bring various vessels that inspire her but if you have a particular piece that you would like to include, then do bring that along. Apart from that, you do not need to bring anything and all materials will be provided. It is advisable to wear old clothes and an apron as the process can be quite messy.

Tickets  £95  (12 places)

Tickets go on sale through the website at 10am on 15th March and 1 week earlier for benefactors of the festival who qualify for priority booking.
