During this ceramics taster day in the pottery studio in the stunning Stanton Guildhouse you will have the opportunity to learn through a hands on experience with clay, exploring different hand building techniques such as coiling, pinching and slab building. You will also learn how to throw a simple form on the potter’s wheel, delving into centring and pulling up your form.

This workshop is aimed at complete beginners, but if it’s been a while since you last picked up clay this could be a perfect reintroduction.

At the end of the workshop you will have two forms which will be glazed and fired. You will be informed when to collect.

Claire is our Artist in Residence and runs regular pottery classes for beginners and experienced and has been teaching for 13 years, adults and children. Claire teaches Art and printmaking along side ceramics and has a love for teaching and helping people reach their potential.

Participants will have the options to have one piece fired at the end of their session and the cost of this will be based on weight of the object and paid directly to Claire Watson.

All materials and tools will be provided.

Please bring your own lunch.
