We are having a special Silver Day at the festival on Saturday 14th June, kindly sponsored by The Goldsmiths’ Company, to include two talks on the subject of silver design at Cidermill Theatre in Chipping Campden.
– ‘A Sterling Renaissance: British Silver Design from the 1950s to date’ by John Andrew Curator/Owner of the Pearson Collection at 11am
– ‘Robert Welch: Crafting a Design Legacy’ by Charlotte Booth of Robert Welch at 3pm
The ticket price for each of the above talks includes entry to a very special exhibition of pieces from The Pearson Collection at Court Barn museum, a 5 min walk away.
The Pearson Silver Collection, the largest collection of post-World War II British designer silver in private hands, is regarded as being of national importance. It encompasses vintage silver from 1945 together with contemporary pieces and represents the story of modern British Silversmithing.
A selection of pieces from the collection will form an exhibition at Court Barn Museum in Chipping Campden during the festival.
You can also enjoy the fascinating permanent display at Court Barn which tells the story of CR Ashbee and the Arts & Crafts Movement in Chipping Campden. The Arts and Crafts movement stimulated a wealth of individual creativity in the North Cotswolds in silversmithing, stained glass work, book binding, furniture making, printing and many other crafts which continues today.
Entry tickets for the exhibition are to be purchased directly from Court Barn Museum which is open from 10am-5pm (closed on Mondays). Adults £7 and students and those under 25 are free.
Why not make a day of it?
Tickets for the two talks go on sale at 10am on Monday 17th March.
