An Introduction Botanical Art with RHS Gold Medalist Ros Franklin
Sun June 8, 2025 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm BST
Ros will take you through a step-by-step approach to the methods used in this traditional art form.
You will be shown how to:
- measure your subject and draw it accurately
- create three-dimensional form using tonal shading
- use of watercolours to depict your chosen subject accurately in colour.
You will take away enough knowledge to complete your work at home, if not completed in class.
Suitable for beginners, and those with some experience.
Ros Franklin has been teaching botanical art since 2008 through workshops at her studio in Hampshire and also at the Eden Project, Cornwall; for the RHS at Rosemoor in Devon; and for Field Breaks in Derbyshire. She has also taught on the SBA residential course, in Wales; at The Mall Galleries, London; and has hosted many workshops around the UK for various Botanical Art Societies including Bath, Gloucester and SWSBA. Ros is a tutor for the prestigious Diploma in Botanical Art for the SBA.
Ros has exhibited internationally and has paintings in the archives of the Sydney Botanic Gardens Australia; the RHS Lindley Library London; and The Eden Project, Cornwall.
We are delighted that Ros is able to attend the festival again this year after the success of her workshop in 2021.
