We are pleased to announce that ‘Figs and Blue Curaçao‘ by Sara Huxley from Stratford-upon-Avon has been selected as the festival promotional image for 2027!
This fabulous entry is a finalist in our 2026 art competition, and can be viewed (and purchased!) at the exhibition which opens on Friday 25th September at Bretforton Theatrebarn.
The painting will be featured on the cover of our 2027 festival programme, on our advertising and our standard banners on the main marquee.
Sara commented:
“As a semi abstract painter, I often rely upon social occasions, photographs or memories to inspire and direct my paintings. Figs and Blue Curaçao is no exception.
I started by laying down a background of colours and textures that I loved then gradually tried to pull an image out of it. There was a particularly beautiful blue on the canvas that reminded me of a cocktail I made once for a party, whilst a student in Manchester in the 80’s. We also served figs and cheese and hence this painting was born. In case you’re wondering, the party ended with us all watching the sun rise over Chorlton Fields.”
