2019 Mystery Masterpiece Auction

This was a great opportunity to snap up original artwork by acclaimed artists including illustrators, painters, printmakers, glassmakers and photographers. A huge thank you to everyone who took part in this event, both to the artists who so generously donated so many wonderful pieces of art and the very generous buyers.  Maybe you spotted a future rising star! All the artists names have now been revealed.

Although the auction is over a few of the artworks were unsold – either visit the online auction page or come to the gallery to see them.  To arrange a visit email info@littlebucklandgallery.co.uk

All money raised from both auctions will support the 2020 Festival Programme and annual art student grants.

Broadway Arts Festival are extremely grateful to all the artists who have so generously donated their work to our auctions.

Details will remain on the website until the end of October when registration for the 2020 Open Art Competition commences.

There were two auctions…

1. Live Auction Event

Live Auction: 7th July, Little Buckland Gallery

30 donated, framed pieces by renowned artists plus 10 artworks by the artists with the highest bids in the online auction were auctioned at Little Buckland Gallery by celebrity auctioneer Phillip Serrell on 7th July 2019.

Thank you to Philip Serrell and everyone who came and so generously contributed to this exciting event.

If you purchased an item in the auction, please arrange a time to come and collect it.

2. Online Auction

Online Auction: 14 June- 6th July

At 11-59pm on 6th July bidding in the Online Auction of 150 donated works ended with a flurry of activity.  This was an exciting opportunity to purchase a ‘mystery masterpiece’ and we are extremely grateful to all the artists who kindly contributed their work and to everyone who has taken part in the auction and came along to the exhibition.  The artists’ names are now published alongside their works on the website.

The top ten artists whose work generated the most interest in the Online auction contributed another piece of work to the Phillip Serrell live auction on 7th July.

Those bidders who have won individual auction items should have received an email from Broadway Arts Festival letting them know and asking them to arrange payment. If you have not received an email please let us know.  If you win more than one item you’ll get individual emails asking you to pay. If you click on the links in each of these – you’ll then be able to settle up in one go.

When you arrange payment you’ll be asked for some details such as billing and shipping addresses and you can also add a note to let us know if you want to collect the item from Little Buckland Gallery. To help us distribute items efficiently we would be really grateful for prompt payment- ideally by 8th July.

If you are interested in buying any of the work that was not sold in the auction please email us at info@littlebucklandgallery.co.uk

See further guidance below about what happens next!

When the Auction ends- if you are the winner you’ll get an email from Broadway Arts Festival letting you know. You’ll then be asked to make your payment by providing your card details via Stripe. You’ll also need to give us your billing address, email and phone number. Here you can also add a different delivery (Shipping) address or let us know (in the Notes) that you want to collect your piece in person from Little Buckland Gallery.

So that we can distribute auction items efficiently after the auction closes at midnight (11-59pm) on 6th July, we’d ask all winners to pay promptly- ideally by 8th July. Our aim is to dispatch items by 10th July. Broadway Arts Festival will cover the cost of postage and packaging within the UK. Items can also be collected at the Live Auction on 7th July.

If payment is not received by 7th August, Broadway Arts Festival reserve the right to either re-auction the item or to take the appropriate bid that would have won the auction, had the person who didn’t pay, not enter the auction process.

Generally speaking it is not possible to retract a bid. However, if you accidentally bid the wrong amount it may be possible to correct this. For example, you meant to bid £40 , not £400. In this case, you should contact us as soon as you become aware of the error at info@littlebucklandgallery.co.uk. Broadway Arts Festival will make a decision depending on the current state of play in the auction and the timing of your request.  We will always aim to assist where a genuine mistake has been made.

TIP- when bidding always double-check that you’ve entered the correct amount especially when making a last minute bid
