A taster session with Patricia Henry and Stroud Artists Books

Participants will be shown three types of blank book structures to make: one stitched, one single page and one folded and will be provided with a starter pack to reproduce these at home.

Participants who also attend the printmaking workshop, or who have done so in the past, can bring pre-printed work with them which can be made or used in a book form.

What is an Artist’s book?

The term ‘book’ can be taken loosely. This can mean taking a familiar structure of the book, using a variety of processes to format leaves, folding, cutting, stitching, gluing or a combination of these; or it might mean deconstructing the concept of the book altogether thus making it more conceptual than truly representative. This also means that some book-structures are sculptural in nature. They are usually produced as limited editions, or as a unique artwork.

Please bring a ruler, a scalpel and a cutting mat if you have one.

Materials Provided:
Paper, needles and thread, covering sheets, information sheets and a starter pack to take home will all be provided.
