How not to be a Starving Artist
Sat June 14, 2025 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm BST
An informal talk about surviving as a professional artist. Freelance for 36 years, Claire has illustrated such diverse things as margarine tubs and children’s books before becoming a fine artist 15 years ago.
Topics will include finding your tribe, being organised, showing and selling your work, galleries, social media, multiple income streams, licensing, talks and demonstrations and, finally, your questions.
Although the emphasis will be on making money from your art, hobby artists should learn a lot too. Since there’s no magic formula, Claire will simply be talking about things that have worked for her, things that didn’t really come off, and things that were a total disaster!
There will be a Q&A session at the end of the talk. Ticket-holders will be able to submit their questions in advance via email.
There will be a pop up shop of Claire’s work, cards, etc to enjoy at the end of the event.
