We are delighted to announce the winners of the 2022 Julia & Martin Wilson Short Story Prize
In 2020 Broadway Arts Festival launched a new short story prize in addition to their art competition prizes in order to encourage creativity during the lockdown. The prize was generously sponsored by festival benefactors Julia & Martin Wilson who also judged the very varied and eclectic entries from across the globe. The competition is now an annual event.
In 2022 we received a great number of entries from across the country and abroad and the judges found it particularly tough to decide on winners and Highly Commended for the three prize categories.
However, after much deliberation the winners have been announced as:
- Main Prize Winner (£400)– Beverley Wightman from Bridgnorth, Shropshire for her moving story “Rose”
- Age 14-18 Category Prize Winner (£100) – Daisy Stewart Henderson (16) from Glasgow for her story “The Fat Peasant Woman from Simbirsk”
- Age 13 and under Category Prize Winner (£50) – Miles Timmis (8) from the Cheltenham area for his story “Chief Inspector Quinn and the Case of the Cheese Baddies”
We would like to congratulate all the winners and those Highly Commended and encourage you to read the winning stories and discover more about our winners on the
Short Story Competition Page
We hope you enjoy reading their creative and imaginative stories as much as we did!
