Your chance to spend the day painting en plein air in the stunning gardens of Sezincote House, a unique estate covering 3,500 acres of rolling Cotswold countryside with a 200-year-old Mogul Indian palace, set in a romantic landscape of temples, grottoes, waterfalls and canals reminiscent of the Taj Mahal. The House was built in the “Indian Style”, a unique combination of Hindu and Muslim architecture. The gardens were designed with the help of Humphrey Repton. Sezincote is credited with influencing the design of the Brighton pavilion after a visit by The Prince Regent in 1807.

You will have the option to take part in a private tour of the house at the end of the workshop at 4:30pm.

In this workshop led by Festival Ambassador, Tushar Sabale, you will be painting the exterior of the house and gardens from life.

You will have an opportunity to watch your tutor paint and demonstrate how he approaches a subject and then make a painting yourself under his direct guidance and supervision. The course will cover range of topics such as composition, simplification, colours, tonal values, capturing light, atmosphere and more.
There will be group and individual discussions on subjects related to ‘en plein air’ painting.

Be ready to paint in all weather conditions. Appropriate gear for the weather is highly recommended.

Suitable for intermediate painters and beginners with some experience painting in oils and acrylics en plein air.

Tushar Sabale is an award winning artist who mainly paints from life in oil colours but occasionally enjoys painting objects in his studio too.

As well as being an Ambassador for the festival and co-founder of ‘London Plein Air Painters’, he is also a member of The Wapping Group of Artist, Chelsea Art Society and British Plein Air Painters.

He has won numerous National and International Awards and exhibited widely across the country including at the Mall Galleries for the ROI, NEAC, RSMA and ING Discerning Eye. Tushar appeared on Sky Arts ‘Landscape Artist of the Year’- Series 8 as one of the Pod artists that was filmed at Royal Ascot. He has been on a ‘Panel of Judges’ and a ‘Guest of honour’ on many occasions. You can listen to him on podcasts and learn more about his works on www.tusharsabale.com
