Capturing Light & Reflection in Watercolours Workshop with Beth Watkins
Sun April 14 @ 10:30 am - 4:30 pm BST
| £80.00Join Beth Watkins of Lagarto Studio Watercolours for an intermediate watercolour workshop exploring ways to capture light and reflection.
Working from a photograph we will be capturing the light and reflections of a Waterscape. It could include the sky, a mountain range, reeds, the branch of a tree as all of these elements create their own effect on the water and their reflections all need to be treated differently.
We will be using the wet on wet, wet on dry, dry on wet and dry on dry techniques with others thrown in along the way. This workshop is ideal for those who have some experience of working with watercolours, enjoy painting water scenes but feel that they are not quite getting the desired effect.
Beth is a very accomplished watercolour artist and tutor who was awarded Highly Commended for her Broadway Arts Festival 2023 entry of ducks and geese (see below). She took part in the International Watercolour Masters 2024 competition and successfully got through to the final 200 out of 1,700 entries.
Her subject of choice is all things water…still, moving, with reflections, waves, ripples, etc. ‘It’s a challenge to paint but it is never boring because there are so many variables. There is no right or wrong way, it’s a case of experimenting, finding your own way with tips from others and most importantly getting to know your materials.’
This intermediate level workshop is suitable for artists with some experience of working in watercolours, not novices.
The workshop will be taking place in the new Willersey village hall which is fully accessible and has ample free parking right outside. Willersey is the neighbouring village to Broadway, a 5 minute drive.
