The Mechanics of Writing Workshop with Vanessa Rigg

An intensive 3 hour workshop for those wanting to concentrate on techniques to advance an idea or “work-in-progress” novel. Exercises will concentrate on dialogue, character building, scene set ups, hooks, and speed plotting with a view to giving participants more confidence, structure and material to continue their own work.

Vanessa Rigg is a local writer and teaches Creative Writing techniques at Chipping Campden School.
Her play “Who Put the B in the BBC?” was performed at Chipping Campden Literature Festival. Her current novel “Pettiver’s Cabinet of Curiosities” was shortlisted for the Retreat West First Chapter competition in May 2018.
This event will take place in the parlour room at The Lifford Hall in Broadway
Limited to 8 participants
Participants will be seated at their own table 2 metres apart in the parlour room which has ample ventilation, patio doors that open onto the car park and high ceilings.
You will have your temperature checked on arrival and if it is 38oC or above you won’t be allowed to take part in the workshop. The workshop leader and arts festival staff will also have their temperatures checked on arrival.
You will need to wear a face covering while inside and during the workshop unless you are exempt. This can be a face mask or plastic visor. There will be hourly breaks where you can step outside.
