SUMMARY:Painting Skyscapes in Oils with Mark Stopforth
DESCRIPTION:An introduction to Skyscapes in oils on paper using Alla Prima techniques\, relying on intuitive mark making to create emotive skyscapes. Throughout the day there will be the opportunity to experience a wide range of techniques that include washes\, blends\, stippling\, scumbling and lifting. \nContextual studies will include looking at the work of Turner\, Whistler and Caspar David Friedrich along with a host of other artists known for working in the tradition of the Sublime. \nThis workshop is for artists who have some experience of painting in oils (intermediate)\, not suitable for complete novices. \nAbout the tutor: \nMark Stopforth is an artist specialising in oils and more specifically in Alla Prima techniques. His work finds inspiration from the Romantic and the Sublime Art of the past but given a contemporary feel. Mark has exhibited work both in the UK and abroad. He is currently represented by The Paragon Gallery\, Cheltenham\, Galerie Rollin\, Rouen and Immobilium Art\, Beverly Hills. There is ample free parking onsite. \nTickets £100 (Limited to 13 places) \nTickets go on sale through the website at 10am on Monday 26th January & 1 week earlier for benefactors of the festival who benefit from priority booking. \nMaterials List: \n\nPencil/s\nPaper: Mark recommends Fabriano Academia smooth. Cartridge paper that is smooth with a gms of 200 and above is just as good\nKitchen towel paper x 2 rolls\nWhite spirit (low odour)\nGloves (disposable)\nOil paints: Mark suggests the following colours: Prussian blue\, Cobalt blue\, Yellow ochre\, Black\, Titanium White\, Green\, Pink\, Flesh tone pink plus any others that you have\nBrushes: A small range of brushes from small to medium for detailing and blending\nBring some old brushes for stippling\nSmall bowl for white spirit\nMasking tape\n\nWould you like to buy a Broadway Arts Festival apron to wear at the workshop? SUMMARY:Cotswold Hipster Leather Dog Collar & Lead Making Workshop
DESCRIPTION:With our 4-legged friends playing such an important role in our lives\, during this 3½ hour workshop Tracy from Cotswold Hipster will guide you in making a bespoke Italian leather collar and lead for your pooch. \nWith a choice of colours from their ever-popular leather and felt collection\, you will learn how to construct the collar and then get creative with your lead. \nPrior to the workshop\, we will get in touch to obtain your preferred colour and size choice for the collar. \nThe colour options available are: \n\npoppy & sky\nchocolate & cornflower\ntan & natural\nolive & raspberry\nteal & mustard\ntan & marine\n\nAt the workshop you will learn how to add the hardware to your collar using rivets in either a brass or nickel finish. Then learn how to cut\, burn and cap off the end of the dog leash rope and stitch securely before adding the handle and the hardware (trigger/O-ring). Finally\, learn how to use coloured paracords\, to add the ‘whipping’ to make your lead truly one of a kind! \nThere will also be brass letter stamps should you wish to emboss your dog’s name onto the collar or lead. \nAll materials provided and suitable for complete novices or those with some experience of working with leather. \nTickets £100 (8 Places) \nThe workshop will at Willersey Village Hall 5 minutes drive from Broadway village.
