SUMMARY:Children's Cyanotype Printing Workshop

The arrangement is then exposed to the sun and washed in water to fix. Children will walk away with a handful of striking blue & white silhouette prints. SUMMARY:Introduction to Picture Framing
DESCRIPTION:Experience picture framing first hand and mix fun with a sense of achievement\, taking away with you your own completed frame at the end of the workshop. \nA practical and enjoyable workshop for beginners run by framer and tutor\, Mark Higgins\, where principles and key tools will be first demonstrated – then you will try everything out yourself as you complete your own frame. \nThe idea is to build confidence should you consider taking picture framing up either as a hobby or small business enterprise.  Everything in the workshop can be replicated at home with a modest purchase of key tools. \nMark Higgins is a qualified Fine Art Trade Guild framer and regularly runs framing courses for beginners. \nParticipants are invited to bring one image 26cm x 21cm – a 10” x 8” photograph would be suitable. A larger image can be brought along\, in which case we will be cropping it down to this size. \nAll the equipment and materials are provided to enable each participant to complete one frame they can take away ready to hang. A set of notes will be provided on next steps should participants wish to follow up on their framing workshop experience. \nThere will be stock of images should any participant not wish to\, or forgets to\, bring their own. \nParticipants should bring lunch and a pencil and pad should they wish to take some notes. \nTickets £100  (8 places) \n  \n  \n  \n \n\n\n

SUMMARY:Coastal Flowers Mixed Media Workshop with Claire Henley
DESCRIPTION:Spend the day creating a floral painting using acrylics and self-painted collage. Claire will guide you through her process\, providing collage materials\, some photographic reference and any appropriate foraged flowers\, or do bring your own.  A professional artist for forty years\, Claire exhibits and licenses her work widely. \nThis is an informal\, fun workshop involving painting\, gluing\, spattering\, scratching\, cutting and tearing. Bring an apron\, roll up your sleeves and get stuck in. SUMMARY:An Introduction to Botanical Art with RHS Gold Medalist Ros Franklin
DESCRIPTION:Ros will take you through a step-by-step approach to the methods used in this traditional art form.\nYou will be shown how to:\n\nmeasure your subject and draw it accurately\ncreate three-dimensional form using tonal shading\nuse of watercolours to depict your chosen subject accurately in colour.\n\nYou will take away enough knowledge to complete your work at home\, if not completed in class. \nSuitable for beginners\, and those with some experience.\n\nRos Franklin has been teaching botanical art since 2008 through workshops at her studio in Hampshire and also at the Eden Project\, Cornwall; for the RHS at Rosemoor in Devon; and for Field Breaks in Derbyshire. She has also taught on the SBA residential course\, in Wales; at The Mall Galleries\, London; and has hosted many workshops around the UK for various Botanical Art Societies including Bath\, Gloucester and SWSBA. Ros is a tutor for the prestigious Diploma in Botanical Art for the SBA.\nRos has exhibited internationally and has paintings in the archives of the Sydney Botanic Gardens Australia; the RHS Lindley Library London; and The Eden Project\, Cornwall.\n\nWe are delighted that Ros is able to attend the festival again this year after the success of her workshop in 2021.\n\nTickets:  £100 (12 Places) \nTickets go on sale through the website at 10am on 17th March. \n\n\n\nMaterials List: \n\nDrawing board and rest. Approx A3 size\, and rigid\, a kitchen roll as a rest will do.\n2H and HB graphite pencils\, plus white plastic eraser\nPair of dividers – with two metal points and/or\nRuler 12”\nWhite china mixing palettes for paints or an old white plate will do.\nKitchen roll (for mopping up spills)\n2 Jam jars for water\nBrushes: At least 2 good quality brushes – check they have excellent points. I use sable brushes\, but you may prefer not to. A size 2 plus a size 1 is a good start.\nWatercolour paper will be available at £2.00 per sheet (12×16″): this is 100% cotton\, acid free\, 140lb/300gsm\, Hot Press. If you have your own hot press paper\, please bring it.\nWatercolour Paints. Always use Artist/Professional Quality NOT student quality.\n\nSupplied by Ros:\n\nI will bring plenty of paints to share on the day\, but if you already have artist/professional quality watercolours paints bring them all with you.\nCartridge paper – very smooth surface\, supplied on the day.\nTracing paper
