Join choral singers from the Broadway area and further afield for a stimulating and enjoyable day working on the choruses in Mozart’s Requiem. Whether you know the work well or are meeting it for the first time, this is a terrific opportunity to develop your singing skills, learn more about the Requiem, enjoy meeting other singers and experience the pleasure of singing in a large chorus. A range of experience and ability will be catered for, but you will need to be able to read music The workshop sessions will culminate in an informal performance, open to the public, when the choir will be joined by young soloists and narrator, with piano accompaniment. Scores will be available on the day if required, although we know many singers will prefer to use their own. We shall be singing the version completed by Süssmayr.
The day will start with Registration at 10am and the workshop will finish at 4.30. The performance will begin at 5pm and is expected to end by 6.30pm. Tea-break refreshments will be provided throughout the day and there will be a break for lunch, when participants may wish to try the local eateries or bring packed lunches. For more information about eating places, hotels and B&Bs please visit http://www.broadway-cotswolds.co.uk.
The day will be led by Peter Nardone, Organist and Director of Music at Worcester Cathedral. Singers who have participated previously in Peter’s singing days will know we’re in for a treat. His distinguished career encompasses countertenor, organist, choirmaster and composer, and he has sung with the Monteverdi Choir, The King’s Consort and the Tallis Scholars. Choirs all over the country enjoy singing Peter’s choral works and we plan to include one or two in the workshop as well as the Mozart.
