Tony Allain PS, PSA, MC-IAPS, MPANZ has been painting for over forty years. He is a painter of light and movement, with a complete understanding of his surroundings.
Born and raised in the Channel Islands, Tony has exhibited extensively over the years and his work can be found in galleries in England, USA, New Zealand and Australia as well as private and corporate collections, including the Maritime Museum Guernsey. In 2004 he received a commission for twelve paintings for the state rooms on board the “Queen Mary 2” the new flag ship for the Cunard Line. He has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Pastel Society in London, The Pastel Society of America, New York. Tony has a busy schedule of workshops and demonstrations for pastel societies each year which take him to various locations including Australia, Europe and the USA.
During this workshop Tony will share some of his working methods, concentrating on painting land and seascapes that are filled with colour and light. He will explore the use of direct strokes on a textured surface to emphasize ‘brushwork’ and will show how to simplify our approach to achieve exciting impressionistic paintings.
