Malcolm Rogers – Overall Competition Judge

Malcolm was Deputy Director of the National Portrait Gallery in London, and for over twenty years, Director of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. He was awarded the CBE for services to the arts in Britain and America. In retirement in Broadway, he continues his active involvement in the arts as a trustee of a number of major museums on both sides of the Atlantic, and is Chairman of Trustees of the Broadway Museum and Art Gallery.

 

Claire Henley Artist Competition Judge

Claire Henley – Overall Competition Judge

Claire has had a varied career as a professional artist and illustrator. After studying graphic design at college, she worked as a designer, children’s book illustrator and writer. 

In 2010 she began her move into the field of fine art by producing a series of paintings inspired by her love of the landscape and coastal areas of Britain, as well as her favourite urban scenes. 

Claire exhibits in galleries from the West Country to Scotland, as well as in her home county of Warwickshire, where she paints in her Stratford studio. Her work is currently licensed by several companies and can be found on home furnishings, gifts, wall art and paper products.

Liz & Lucy James – Oils & Acrylics Category Judges

Liz James has been associated with 19th, 20th & 21st Century art for over 25 years and is the owner of Priory Gallery Broadway  developing contemporary art & sculpture.

Liz runs this bijou gallery with her daughter, Lucy. They have over six exhibitions a year promoting quality artists.

John Noott Art Dealer Judge

John Noott – Founders Watercolour Prize Judge

Art dealer & festival committee member, John and his family have been successfully art dealing in Broadway for over forty years, and have a keen commercial eye for what is a good picture.
He lives in the house where, in 1885, John Singer Sargeant painted ‘Carnation, Lily, Lily, Rose’, and was inspired to celebrate the long tradition of painting and the arts in Broadway by starting the Broadway Arts Festival over 10 years ago.

Amy McLelland – Local Artist Category Judge

Amy is a member of the festival Management Committee and commercial art dealer at EFA Gallery in Birmingham.

She is a strong believer in art being accessible to all, and is well known for making the world of ‘commercial art’ welcoming to people of all budgets, experience and backgrounds. With a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree from Bath Spa University, several Artist Residencies (including funding by the Arts Council England) and years of practice holding exhibitions across the Midlands, Amy is very keen on developing the art competition as an opportunity for up and coming artists to boost awareness of their practices and sell their artworks to new collectors.

Jason Lewis (Trustee) – Sculpture/3D Prize Judge

Jason is an experienced charity trustee having been a trustee of Variety, the Children’s Charity between 2007 and 2022. He served as Chairman of the Board and for a number of years as Head of the Fundraising Committee. Variety is probably best know for its iconic Sunshine Coaches. Jason currently serves as a Commissioner of the Lansdowne Club in London.
With his wife, he is a director of a small property consultancy company. Jason and his wife buy and sell art specialising in lesser known works by well known artists.
